Krems, Austria

April 11, 2010

Our campground in Krems may end up on our list of “Bests.” Best bathrooms yet with the room heated and shower curtains separating the shower from the dressing area. How innovative! The woman in reception was very welcoming and friendly, as well. Everything was spotless and she gave us a spot right up front overlooking the Danube and a castle high on a hill across the river. We only wished we could stay longer. We took time to walk into town the next morning. Austria really is tops in the walking and bike trails area.

We decided that Krems must be where the Austrian rebels hang out, but even their graffiti is artistic.

Then we saw the can of Red Bull on the street. I guess the local gang was out partying the night before since it was a Saturday.

We walked along the path, over a bridge and into the sweet little town. It was a Sunday and we pretty much had the place to ourselves.

The day was still gray, and icy cold. It felt like skiing weather and then we saw a bus and a group of people loading their skis on board. I think this kind of weather explains why Austrians are so rosy cheeked and healthy looking.

We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open. ~ Jawaharial Nehru
